This project will take us approximately 10 to 12 weeks to complete. During this time, you will be working in pairs or small groups to define each of the following topics, create a multimedia artifact for your topic, and present your information to the school in an effort to raise awareness of good digital citizenship skills. The grid below is an example of the different topics to be covered during the next several weeks.
Offline activities will be provided if a student is not allowed to participate in the collaborative part of the project. Additionally, the students and the teacher will have to have several discussions about goal-setting, adhering to task, follow through on a project, as well as some of the topics to be covered in the project. There will be times when small group instruction and discussion will have to take place to make sure students are understanding the materials they are reading and presenting. Once we get to the steps involving reflection and evaluation, students will be provided with rubrics and opportunities to share their thoughts without using a computer.
The final component of the Digiteen Project is to prepare an Action Project, in the form of a multimedia presentation, to their school and/or classmates. Once they have presented the information to the group, the viewers of the presentation will complete this form as way to provide the students with feedback about their work.
This is a screencast explaining how I will use Edmodo and Rubistar to evaluate students as they progress through the project.
